If we add a variety of customisation options into the mix, we get almost perfect dials that are truly a joy to behold. Apple Watch comes with two brand new dials. While one zooms the numbers around the edges according to the current time, the other allows two types of data to display all the information in detail. Of course, the Always-On display is included, and it now provides 70% more brightness indoors.

More Durable Design

Apple Watch Series 7 brings a slight increase in its design from the current 40/44mm to 41 and 45mm. The premium look of the case is once again provided exclusively by metal materials, and we can expect slightly more rounded corners. The front glass is more rounded as well, which not only makes edge screen gestures more pleasant, but also creates a more uniform look with the rest of the design. The legendary Digital Crown offers such intuitive control that it has inspired some competitors (e.g. Huawei Watch 3).

The new touch sensor has been integrated directly into the display panel, creating space for the protective glass to be thicker by as much as 50%. Therefore, we can count on significantly higher durability and resistance to cracking. Apple Watch Series 7 has an IP6X rating, the highest level of resistance to external particles (especially dust or sand). Due to the waterproofness of up to five atmospheres, even diving into the water is not a problem, although greater depths must still be avoided. The bands also offer backwards compatibility with the previous series, unlocking access to a huge variety of styles.

Countless Features and Faster Charging

Apple Watch Series 7 is one of the most feature-packed smartwatch on the market. In addition to the alarm clock, stopwatch, countdown timer, calendar, calculator, voice recorder and world time, we can look forward to Siri voice assistant or contactless Apple Pay. Due to the internal storage, storing music to listen to later is not a problem, even with your phone out of range. All of this is complemented by the App Store, which allows you to install an almost infinite number of additional features.

Notifications are also available with a variety of response options, and we can now even handle phone calls directly on Apple Watch Series 7. Typing and keyboard tapping itself has also been improved, where you can swipe between letters without lifting a finger for significantly faster interaction. In terms of connectivity, we can expect not only Bluetooth, but also WiFi in the 2.4 and 5GHz bands. However, the compatibility of the new Apple Watch Series 7 still only includes iPhones.

The battery life officially remains at 18 hours of continuous operation, but it is likely that in reality, as with previous generations, we will get to 1 to 2 days. Charging is up to 33% faster, so you can recharge 80% of the battery in 45 minutes, and just 8 minutes is enough for 8 hours of sleep tracking. More features and a nicer system at the expense of the battery is simply the current trend in the smartwatch market, which is also applied by the flagship models of Samsung or Huawei.

A Complete Overview of Sport and Health

The state of daily activity is traditionally shown by three coloured circles, which represent movement, exercise and standing. Up-to-date data can be shared with family or friends, and we can even challenge specific users to seven-day contests. There are also dozens of sports modes, some of which Apple Watch Series 7 can recognise automatically. This way, we simply cannot forget to record our hard training.

For outdoor activities, there's an integrated GPS, maps with navigation to your destination, and music that plays independently of your iPhone. Apple Watch Series 7 also brings an improved e-bike algorithm, while automatic fall detection or an SOS button for calling for help (this feature requires a cellular network connection) can help resolve accidents. However, unlike selected competitors, some particularly advanced sports indicators are still missing, and professional athletes are likely to look elsewhere.

Apple Watch Series 7 also monitors heart rate, including heart rate variability (i.e. the load on the body), and we can also count on the tracking of sleep, respiratory rate or blood oxygenation. Unlike the competition, there is an ambient noise measurement and an automatic hand-washing countdown. Breathing exercises are available, and watching beautiful animations can also be used to unwind. Unlike Apple Watch SE, we will also see a relatively rare ECG function that detects serious anomalies, although the prerequisite is to be at least 22 years old.

The Apple Watch Series 7 smartwatch comes in many original designs, varying in material, colour, and price. You'll be able to choose from stainless steel, titanium and 100% recycled aluminium, which will come in Green, Blue, Starlight, Midnight and PRODUCT(RED). There will also be an LTE edition that allows connection to a mobile network, including the internet. Pre-orders start on October 8th, 2021, with Apple Watch 7 itself going on sale on October 15th, 2021.
