The worst thing that can happen to you when you work on a computer is a power outage minutes before the entire file was saved. Almost all your work has vanished, and you have to start again from nothing. Similar heart-stopping situations can be averted by the Fortron iFP 600 backup source, or UPS. This is a battery reservoir that provides power for all devices that need electricity. The Fortron iFP 600 UPS features the Line interactive design approach. Off-line is the most basic form when power fails, since it switches to the internal battery for electric power. The line interactive UPS enhances the simpler off-line version of data line surge suppression to prevent damage from dangerous surges and spikes.
The most important parameter is the UPS run time during outages. This depends on the energy consumption – for example, at half-load (50%), the UPS power time will be three times longer. It is therefore crucial to estimate the energy consumption of the connected electronics and it is a good idea to have some spare energy in reserve. The Fortron iFP 600 shows the apparent power as 600, but realistically, the actual power usage is 360 W.
